A Fun Day Out And In

Yesterday was a fun day. I haven't had so much fun in London for quite a long time since I cut down on my spending. We had decided to do sth special yesterday to celebrate our beloved Singie (i.e. Singaporean) friend Valeire's belated 23 birthday.

We started our day by going to the Oriental City for a nice lunch. We ordered so much, and as usual, I had everything which was either Malaysian or Singaporean. Teh Tarik was nice. Nasi Pataya was not bad. But my all-time-favourite was still Roti Planta. So sweet and delicious...

Then we came back to my place and played some Monopoly for two hours (not surprisingly) before we headed out again for the main event of the day...

Yes bowling. Finding a bowling centre in London is not an easy thing. But I managed to find one at Finchley which is called Hollywood. (what a name...) It was far from the best bowling centre: crowded, noisy, kids everywhere (I'm sure there was a screaming kid every square metre), and, surprise surprise, the presence of ASBO kids. Anyhow, it was a reasonable venue and the most important thing is we had fun.

I've kinda lost my magic though. Back home in HK, I once scored over 100 in every game. But yesterday my best score was only 91. After several rounds of failure, my dear Pengkwan told me to, as I quote, "aim at the middle otherwise you can't strike them all", as if I had been aiming at the kid on the next lane throughout the whole game. But that guy was good. He scored an impressive 160 sth. And Val's score? I better not disclose now without claiming immunity from physical injury....

After that, we went down to Soho for dinner at Malaysia Kopi Tiam. They've got nice food and excellent service - one of the best restaurants in Central London. We had a lovely meal there before we all went back to my place again and continued our unfinished game of Monopoly till 8 in the morning. I was totally enhausted when I went to bed. And I still am right now.
